BLOOMINGTON, IL -- Feb. 29 1978

The funeral of Blanche M. Hayes, 89, who lived with her daughter Jean Hendricks, 1022 Hovey Ave., Normal, and who died Sunday, will be at 10 a.m., Thursday at Metzler Memorial Home. The Rev. Philip D. Queen will officiate. A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1888, in Cedar County, Iowa, a daughter of Lewis J. and Emma Rochholtz Munn. She married Daniel G. Hayes April 20, 1909, at Muscatine, Iowa. He died Feb. 26, 1962.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Hendricks; Mary Munn Thompson, Fontana, Wis., and Patricia Hall, Santa Cruz, Calif.; seven grandsons, and nine great-grandchildren. A brother preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Amateur Women's Music Club in Bloomington-Normal. Before moving to Normal, she was choir director and soloist at the First Congregational Church, Maywood [Ill]. For 17 years after that, she was choir Director and soloist at the Fullerton Presbyterian Church, Chicago. She was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and the Tuckabatchee Sunday School class of the church.

From 1949 to 1964, she was a member of the Mother's Singers of Normal, singing for many organizations. The group was later known as the Keynotes. She was a former housemother at Delta Omicron Sorority at Illinois Wesleyan University. She also was housemother at Brokaw Hospital nurses' home.

Memorials may be made to the music fund of the Second Presbyterian Church.
