OBITUARY

Jean Hayes Hendricks, 66, of 1022 Hovey Ave., Normal, died at 6:03 p.m Wednesday at Americana Healthcare Center, Normal, Illinois.

Mrs. Hendricks attended Northern Illinois State Teachers College and taught in Maywood, Ill., from 1930 to 1935. She had been a resident of Normal since 1947 and retired in 1977 after 24 years as a secretary in Unit 5 schools. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Metzler Memorial Home, the Rev. Philip D. Queen officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hendricks was born December 28,1911, in Rock Island, a daughter of Daniel Gordon Hayes and Blanche Munn. She married Howard S. Hendricks on October 28, 1935, in Maywood, Ill. He died December 1. Survivors include two sons, John, Superior, Wis., and Hayes, Matteson, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Munn Thompson, Hayward, Wis., and Patricia Hall, Santa Cruz, Cal.; and two granddaughters.

Mrs. Hendricks was active in the PTA, was past president of the Bloomington-Normal PTA Council and was given life membership in the Illinois Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was a member of the Illinois and National Association of Educational Secretaries and Second Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the American Business Women's Association and president of that group in 1970 and 1971. She was Woman of the Year of that organization in 1971.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the music fund of the Second Presbyterian Church.
