Pierz - Another old settler passes away, Jospeh Boehmer died last Saturday evening at the home of his father-in-law, John Mand, in the village of Pierz. The cause of death was consumption. The deceased was born in the 27th day of March, 1857, at Roxbury, Dane county, Wis. At the age of 15 years he went to Marquette, Mich. , with his parents. The family lived there about 7 years, then moved to Pierz, where they have since resided. The deceased is survived by his wife and ten children. The three oldest daughters are married; one living in Sauk Rapids, and the other two reside near Pierz. Mr. Boehmer was of a family character and highly esteemed by all who knew him. He was a faithful Catholic and an active member of the St. Joseph's society, and served three years as president of that society. The funeral was held last Tuesday morning at 9:00 o'clock. The procession formed in front of John Mand's house, and marched to the St. Joseph's church, headed by a long line of friends, and women then followed the band and the St. Joseph's society. It was one of the longest funeral processions seen here. At church Rev. J. G. Stiegler read a requiem, and interment was in the St. Joseph's cemetery. Paul Boehmer of Sauk Rapids, a brother of the deceased, attended the funeral. We are requested to render thanks to all that helped the surviving members of the family in their great bereavement.
