WRIGHT GOLTRY DIES
Wright D. Goltry, eldest son of Frank and Mary Goltry, was born April 6, 1886 near Russell and passed away at his home in Long Beach, Calif., June 23, 1966 at the age of 80 years, two months and 17 days.
Mr. Goltry was raised on a farm in Cedar Township, Lucas County where he attended a rural school. At his father's death, Mr. Goltry helped bear the responsibility of the family at an early age. Mr. Goltry spent most of his life on the farm until 1942, at which time he moved to Long Beach, Calif., where he worked at defense work during World War II.
Mr. Goltry especially liked to travel, having travelled every state in the union but one. He was also noted for his interest in photography.
On September 28, 1950, Mr. Goltry was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Murray at Long Beach.
Mr. Goltry was noted for his kindness and helpfulness. His neighbors and friends will bear witness to his life.
Preceding him in death were his parents. In additon to his wife and step-children, he is survived by two brothers, Carl T. and Leonard C. Goltry and one sister, Mrs. Roy Thompson, all of Russell, plus a host of other relatives and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services were held at Long Beach, Calif. on June 27th and on June 30th at the Woodman Funeral Home in Russell with burial in the Russell Cemetery. The Rev. Robert Davis officiated at the latter service.
