Mrs. Myrtle Ruth Brantley, 90, of Waycross died Tuesday evening at Satilla Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Ware County to the late John Mack Corbitt and Sarah Jane Wildes Corbitt. Mrs. Brantley lived in Jacksonville, Florida and Titusville, Florida before moving back to Waycross where she has resided for the past twenty-one years. She retired as the secretary to the buyer for Winn Dixie in Jacksonville, Florida, and also did clerical work for a contracting company with NASA in Titusville, FL.

Mrs. Brantley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a son, William Gary Brantley, a granddaughter, Debbie Faye Blalock, two sisters, Alma Barnard, Mae Brantley, and four brothers, Walter Corbitt, Bob Corbitt, Buck Corbitt, and Hoke Corbitt.

She is survived by a son, Carroll Brantley and his wife Sharon of Westminister, South Carolina, a sister, Sarah Rowell of Manor, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Saturday in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 12pm.
