In 1895, along with his brother Herman, he started a livery service called 'Lohman Bros.'in Milwaukee for the sale and rental of horses and carriages, mostly for funeral processions. Before then from 1884-1895 he was in partnership with Fred 'Fritz' Voth in another livery service, 'Lohmann, Voth & Co.' Later in life Henry became a south side funeral home director.
Death notice from Milwaukee Sentinel, Feb. 7, 1922:
"LOHMAN - Feb. 4, 1922, Henry Lohman, Sr. beloved husband of Friedericka Lohman, nee Voth, and father of Henry Lohman, Jr., Mrs. Emma Zehlof and Mrs. Helen Gorsegner, at the age of 71 years, 2 days. Funeral Wed. Feb. 8 at 2 p.m. from residence, 639 Greenfield Avenue, to Evangelical Lutheran St. Martini church..Interment Pilgrims Rest cemetery."
