DEATH CALLS PIONEER MAN
Death, this Monday, called Robert W. Fields, 77, who had lived all his life in the Brownsville and Crawfordsville areas.
Born in Crawfordsville in 1872, Mrs. Fields had farmed and operate a saw mill in the Calapooya valley until his retirement.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Phebye Barnard-Fields, whom he married at Scio in 1895; five children, Jim Fields, Crawfordsville; George Fields, Brownsville; Henry Fields, Sweet Home; Mrs. Annie Pugh, Corvallis and Mrs. Eva Andrews, Basin, Mont.; 16 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
He was a member of the IOOF lodge.
Funeral services were set for the Fisher Funeral Home in Albany for 2 p.m. Thursday, with burial in the Union cemetery near Crawfordsville. The Rev. Dahlgren was the minister.
Pallbearers named were Arthur Wigle, Bill Hendricks, Charles Cator, George Lowe, John Faust and Raymond Wimer. Mrs. Lous Sisto sang and Mrs. Dahlgren was organist.
