BROWNSVILLE-Graveside service for George E. Fields, 74, 37675 Sunset Lane, who died Wednesday at his home, apparently of self-inflicted gunshot wounds, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Union Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Elder Cleo Thompson and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3437 will officiate.
Born March 31, 1904 in Crawfordsville, he attended schools in the Holley and Crawfordsville areas. He later worked in the logging and lumber industry, then worked on wheat farms in the Baker area, where he retired from the logging industry in 1965. Since then, he had lived in the Brownsville-Crawfordsville area.
Survivors include a daughter, Violet Taylor of Sweet Home; a son, Robert, of Brownsville; a brother, James of Crawfordsville; a sister, Eva Andres of Missoula, Mont.; and four grandchildren.
