William Howard Scobee, named for Pres. William Howard Taft, was born near Sidney, Putnam Co., MO., the 9th of 10 children of Emma Rosetta Lewis and James Nicholas Scobee. He moved from northern Mo. during the depression of 1930 to North Kansas City, Clay Co., Mo., where he met and married Dorothy Verran Phillips on Jan 12, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army as an MP during WWII against Germany, (guarded Hitler's doctor) and was stationed in France, North Africa, Italy and Turkey. They had 2 daughters, Sandra Joyce Scobee Boustead and Mary Joanne Scobee Hennessy Morgan.
He loved vegetable gardening, fishing and hunting, buying and selling horses, trading cars and babysitting his grandchildren. He retired from the American Can Co.
In his younger days, he was a cab driver and barber. He was a wonderful grandfather.
