Emma Rosetta Lewis was the 6th of 8 children born to Sarah Ellen Palmer and George Lewis, in Putnam Co., MO., near Sidney. She married James Nicholas Scobee and had 10 children, raising 8 of them to adulthood. They are Dade, infant boy, Murl, Ray, infant girl, Robert, Alta Ellen (Sis), Alice Pearl (Toots), William Howard and Harold Eugene, (Bud).
After the death of James Nicholas (Nick), she married a widower, Clarence Johnson. She also outlived him, and died in 1960, after breaking a hip.
She had a hard life, like most women in those days, raising her family. She was a tiny woman with dark hair (no gray even in her old age) and brown eyes.
