"Mrs. Marilla Shatto died at her home five miles west of Milan, Saturday, March 10. The funeral was conducted from the home Sunday at 11:00 by Rev. W. C. Harper.

Mrs. Shatto's maiden name was Clem. She was born in Virginia on April 22, 1823. In early life she came to Missouri. She was married to Zachariah Shatto on January 9, 1845. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom are living. Her husband died in 1895, and one son in 1893. For more than sixty years, Mrs. Shatto had lived in Sullivan county. Her life was hidden away in her interest in the welfare of her family.

Some thirty years ago she gave her life to God's service and united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church. Her life was that of the quiet, trusting child of the Master, trusting to the end. A large circle of are left to enjoy the goodly heritage of the influence of her worthy life. Her age was 82 years, 10 months and 18 days.
