"Mrs. Julia Baird Dies At Age 82"
Mrs. Julia Baird of Elk Valley passed away at her home Saturday, July 26, at 11:30 a.m. She was 82. Survivors are: four daughters, Mrs. Lillie Blankenship of Jellico, Mrs. Ollie E. Owens of Detroit, Mrs. Jessie B. Cecil of Elk Valley, and Mrs. Bernice Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; one son, Otto Baird of Oakland, California; two brothers, Timothy Gibson, Stanford, Ky., and Dr. William Gibson of Knoxville; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Perkins and Mrs. Effie Lay, both of Elk Valley; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 28 at the Elk Valley Church of God, the Rev. General Douglas and the Rev. Isham Sharp officiating. Pallbearers were Verldon Blankenship, Vic Conley, E. S. Bridges, Eckley Blankenship, Curt York, and John Gibson. Interment was in the Baird Cemetery. Ellison Funeral Home of Jellico was in charge.
