Daughter of James Alfred and Celia E Bowick Johnson.
Married William F Williamson 7 Feb 1855.
Married Furney Green Tisdale 1865.
Mary was a girl of 8 when her father and step mother made the trip from Sumter SC to Pike County AL (now Crenshaw). They moved in a two wheel wagon and it took 6 months. She saw a train for the first time while traveling through Augusta GA. William died in 1862 and Mary supported the family through the civil war by being a "traveling doctor" because of her knowledge of root and herb remedies. She was a charter member of the Mt Zion Baptist Church near Brantley. She was described as kind, but strict and not putting up with any nonesense.
Children by William: Thomas Wiley, James Alfred and William Irvin Williamson.
Children by Furney: Mary Anna, Furney Sherwood, William Edward and Laura Luraine Tisdale.
