Mr. Barnett was born May 23, 1914 in Keosauqua, Iowa, the son of Benjamin F. and Priscilla Huffman Barnett. Hew was united in marriage August 6, 1936 to June Pratt at Keosauqua.
Mr. Barnett was self-employed as a painter and carpenter and lived his whole life in the Hillsboro Community.
Services were held Friday, July 25, at 2 P.M. at the Hillsboro Christian church, Rev. Levi Winfrey, officiating. Music was provide by Mary Ross. Casket bearer were C.F. Hoaglin, Craig Smart, Robert Moothart, Milan Ross, Leslie Hoaglin and J.M. Dodds. Honorary bearers were L.T. Harlan, Arlo Foss, Phil Hixson and Byron Church.
Survivors include his wife, June and daughter, Mrs. Earl (Nancy) Griffin and one granddaughter, Penny Kay Griffin all of Hillsboro; one brother, Ray of Hillsboro, four sisters, Mrs. Phyllis Marshall of Hillsboro, Mrs. Vera Heisel and Mrs Choloe Warrington of Stockport, and Mrs. Eva Marshall of Libertyville.
Several nieces and nephews and a host of friends survive.
Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harl of Trenton, MO and James of Salem.
Interment was in the Hillsboro Cemetery with Beatty's Funeral Chapel of Salem in charge of arrangements.
