After she graduated from Latexo High School in 1953, she went to work with Mary Bean in the County Clerk's Office in the Houston County Court House. Her first car was a 1956 Ford, which I loved.
After she married and had her only child, Curk, she did not work for a couple of years. Then in 1963 she went to work for Morrow's Dairy Queen.
She was my aunt, more like a cousin or sister, since we were raised next door to each other. I was at my Mamaw's (grandmother's home) every day until I was a big teenager. I can still hear her calling :Rhetta, come here.
Henrietta had several nick names. Her brothers call her Sissy until she was grown. When she went to work for Morrow's Dairy Queen, and Jane Rich named her Henri, which stuck. Henri worked at the Dairy Queen for over 30 years.
Henrietta was a member of the Crockett Church of God since early childhood. Singing in the Choir also.
Prededed in death by her parents, and two sisters, Maude and Lena Pearl; six brothers, Frank, Dude, Tommie, Edgar, Paul and Durwood.
She is survived by her son, one sister-n-law, and a host of neices and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
