Jim was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War having served from 1951 to 1955. He retired from the accounting department at International Harvester in 1989. Jim loved the Lord and was a good husband and father. Jim enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing and being outdoors on the farm.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Edith H. May Abbott; his children, Mike Abbott (Veronica) of Scottsburg, Paula Taylor (Terry Sr.) of Marysville, IN, Emma VanMeter (Philip) of Scottsburg; Tim Abbott (Jenny) of Vevay, IN; sister, Sandra Coulter of Jeffersonville, IN; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Life Celebration Services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 15, 2023 with burial in Hibernia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday and after 9:00 am on Friday.
