Wanita Singer Aubrey, 93, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was born April 11, 1925 in Illinois, daughter of the late Charles Herman Abbott and Iva Montgomery Abbott. She was a graduate of Henryville High School in Indiana.
Throughout her life, Wanita worked at various jobs. In fact, she worked until she was 87 years old. Over her career, she had worked at Stacey's Buffet, Howard Hiatt Jewelers, Town Pharmacy, and Litt Brothers. She was a member of the Wilmington First Baptist Church.
Wanita is survived by a daughter, Terry Lee (Joel) Walraven of Wilmington; a son, John K. Singer of Akron; a brother, James (Edith) Abbott of Indiana; two sisters, Sandy (Charles) Coulter of Indiana and Mary Cable of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Robin (Garron) Sneed, John Curtsinger Jr., Chris Walraven, and Jessica Brewer; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Singer Jr.; her second husband, Belmont Aubrey; a daughter, Geraldine "Geri" Curtsinger-Webb; two grandsons, Boyd Curtsinger and Shawn Curtsinger; a brother, Charles; and sisters, Lillian, Frances, Roberta, Ruth, and Alice.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 2 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 1 at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wanita's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2808 Reading Road, Cincinnati, OH 45206; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; or the Wilmington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 968, Wilmington, OH 45177.
