" I was born in the farm house of my parents, Mr. & Mrs. C.E. Clinger, April 19, 1894, Del Valle, Travis Co., Texas. Our mother had seven children, Charley, Henry, Hattie, Lillie, Carl, Hazel and Alvina. She also reared Addie and Edgar, papa's children by a previous marriage. Papa's first wife, Mary , died with typhoid fever when she was 24 years old. Papa owned 750 acres of land at the intersection of Clinger Road and Elroy Road. Papa had a Merchandise store and a black-smith shop. This area was called Clingerville, TX. Clinger Road was named in honor of papa. Our brother,Charley passed away when he was 12 years old. He died from a cat bite that had rabies. Alvina, our youngest sister, the baby of the family, passed away in child-birth from neglect of her doctor. Wesley Hall was her husband. Their son, Wesley Jr., passed away from typhus fever at the age of 14 years. His father was later killed in an auto accident. Our brother, Carl, died May 11, 1971 from a stroke.... In the country we attended the Baptist Church on Onion Creek. We attended church revivals on Onion Creek, near Moore's crossing. We camped at the grounds during these revivals. I went to school at Carlton, at the foot of Pilot Knob, an extinct volcano. I was 12 when our parents moved to Austin ( i.e.1912) We first lived at 1106 E. 8. Laer the family moved to 2100 Nueces."

Hattie married Everette Edward Pittman on 26 May 1917 in Austin, Travis Co., TX. From this marriage they had two children, one deceased and another living. Hattie's occupation was a homemaker.
