Funeral services were conducted at 10 am, Wednesday, March 22, from Friendship Church for Morris G. Ashby, Jr., 58, of 111 Carol Drive in Houston, who died March 20 at the Houston Hospital. The Rev. L K Foster officiated. Interment was in the church cemetery, with Memorial Funeral Home in charge.
Palbearers were nephews of the deceased.
Born in Chickasaw county Dec 20, 1913, Ashby was the son of Sally Sligh and Morris G. Ashby, Sr. He had resided here all his life and was a retired Highway Department employee. He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ester Ashby; one daughter, Mrs. Anita Kate Banks, West Point; two brothers, Robert Ashby and Gus Ashby both of Van Vleet; one sister, Mrs. Kate Woods of Starkville and three grandchildren.
