FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FRANK MEESE HELD AT NICHOLS

Nichols, Ia., Aug. 28.--Funeral services for the late Frank S. Meese were held at the Methodist church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. C.E. Clark. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Loeb, Mrs. Anna Halleck and John Stevens, accompanied by Mrs. Marie Borgstadt, sang, with Clifford Hersser singer "My Rosary." The pallbearers were W.R. Schmitt, Bert Pool, Willard Rice, Ernest Kirchner, Frank Mills, Fred Hummell, and the flower girls were Mrs. Edward Brown, Mrs. W.R. Schmitt, Mrs. Margaret Fry, Mrs. Molly Bottomly, Mrs. Fred Hummell and Mrs. Grace Helzer. Burial was in the Nichols cemetery, with the Masons in charge of the services at the grave.

Frank S. Meese was born in northern Indiana[sic-Van Wert County, Ohio], Jan. 1., 1863 and died at his home in Binger, Okla., after a lingering illness on Aug. 23, at the age of 66 years. He began his life's work as a messenger boy, later coming to Nichols as night telegraph operator. He afterwards was made agent at this place, a position he held for 25 years, when he was transferred to Binger, Okla., where he accepted a similar position with the Rock Island.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge, being a thirty-second degree Mason, and was a member of the First Congregational church at Binger.

The surviving relatives are the wife, Mrs. Frank Meese of Binger, Okla.; three brothers, James, John and Phillip Meese of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Meese of Fort Wayne.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Hattie Johnston of Cedar Rapids, A.A. Owens, of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Nichols and family of West Liberty.
