Florentius M. ‘‘Bud'' Zach, 86, of 250 Schuyler St., died at 10:55 p.m. Friday (April 27, 2001) in the Heritage Village Health Care Center. An area resident since 1947, he was born May 11, 1914, in Pierce, Neb., the son of Ignatz and Johanna Hoffman Zach. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the 134 Infantry in the invasion of Normandy and in the European Theatre. He had been employed at the MRC Jamestown Plant for 26 years, retiring in 1977 as an inspector. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church for 53 years, having served as a Eucharistic Minister and had been a member of its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Lakewood Post 1286, American Legion, and John W. Tiffany Post 53, VFW. He enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. Surviving are his wife, Josephine M. DiMaio Zach, whom he married July 17, 1948, in Ss. Peter & Paul Church; a daughter, Roganne Scoma of Jamestown; a son, Michael A. Zach of Jamestown; four grandchildren: Chad Scoma of Rochester and Aaron Scoma, Zachary Scoma and Joseph J. Scoma II, all of Jamestown; a great-grandson, two sisters: Lucy Heller of Lincoln, Neb., and Ann Schnoor of Norfolk, Neb.; and three brothers: Joe Zach of Salem, Ore., and Bernard and Gerald Zach, both of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Thomas; and four brothers: Mark, Henry, Wilbur and Raymond Zach.
