Hugh Melvin Davenport, 78, a retired farmer and Fall River resident 6 1/2 years, died yesterday in St. Margaret's Hospital where he had been a patient eight weeks. He was born Feb 15, 1880, in Hancock County, Illinois.
Mr. Davenport moved to Fall River, Kansas, from Elk County. He was a member of the Fall River Methodist Church.
Funeral will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Fall River Methodist Church by Mrs. Mary Conyers. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery under direction of the Cason Funeral Home.
Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Mabel (Hollar) Davenport of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Eleanor Ekensten, Killeen, Texas, Mrs. Jessie Faye Cullison, Fall River; two sons, F. Mervin Davenport, Houston, Texas, and R. Morris Davenport, Tempe, Arizona: three sisters, Mrs. Ethel Jane Ober, Myrtle Caroline Gillette, Wichita, Kansas, Mrs. Alma Leona Tingler, Gallatin, Missouri; and a brother, Roy Bidwell Davenport, Englewood, California.
