THE WEEK IN ELMER
by Mrs. E. L. Hunsaker
Obituary
---Earnest Lloyd Roberts, son of J.P. and Maud Roberts was born in Elmer, Mo., December 13, 1906 and departed this life April 22, 1935. Age 28 years, 4 months and 9 days. He was preceded in death by a sister, Freda May, Dec. 19, 1907.
---He is survived by his father, mother, two sisters, Mrs. Fern Parish of Bellflower, Mo. and Hazel of the home, and a grandmother, Mrs. Adeline Wiggans of Elmer, also other relatives and friends.
---Most of his life he has been confined to the home, because of physical infirmity. Radio came and he has gotten much comfort from its programs and especially appreciated the religious program. He has been very patient and has always had a word of cheer and a smile for those that he has been associated.
---Earnie as he was generally called was loved by both the old and young and will be sadly missed. He retained his health and also his reasoning faculties until the end which came peacefully at 10:45 a.m. Monday at the home.
----His funeral was held at the family home Tuesday, April 23, at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Carl Sshneider of Atlanta. Interment was made in the city cemetery in which his loved ones rest.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home.
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The one his love has given, and
though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
--------------CARD OF THANKS-------------
---We wish to express our deepest appreciation to the kind friends who remembered us in our sorrow in the loss of our dear son and brother by their many thoughtful acts of sympathy and love, also the singers.
-----Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Roberts
--------Miss Hazel Roberts
-----Mr. and Mrs. Willis Parish.
---Those from out of town that attended the funeral of Earnest Roberts Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Price Wiggans of Atlanta, Mrs. Nelia Dudley of Bloomington, Mrs. E. J. Gutherie, Mrs. Ben Gutherie of Ethel, Mr. and Mrs. Elza Prough of Nind, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Main of Atlanta.
--------------In Memorium----------------
---In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Earnest Roberts who passed away one year ago April 22, 1935. Also our dear wife and mother, Mrs. J. P. Roberts who followed him Nov. 15, 1935.
Our dear Mother and Brother, how we loved you.
---How we miss your smiling face;
There can never be any other
---That can ever take your place.
The vacant place, the empty chairs
---We see them day by day,
And Oh, it fills our hearts with care
---Since our loved ones went away.
---Sadly missed by Mr. J. P. Roberts, Miss Hazel Roberts and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Parrish.
