Died: Monday, March 24, 2008

Ada M. Backherms, 88, Corydon, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.

Born May 17, 1919, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late George and Lillian Gutknecht Crone.

She was a homemaker, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Corydon and a member of Pfrimmer's Chapel United Methodist Church near Corydon.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Laurel A. Backherms, in 1997; a daughter, Shirley A. Backherms; three brothers Cecil, Buddy and Glenn Crone; and two sisters, Aileen Stiner and Betty Mitchell.

Survivors include four sons, Melvin N. and Lonnie L. Backherms, both of Mitchell, Laurel Backherms Jr. of Salem and Dennis K. Backherms of Corydon; a sister, Clara Belle Lasley of Corydon; a brother, Archie Crone of New Salisbury; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friday, March 28, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, March 29, after 9 a.m. at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon.

Funeral: Saturday, March 29, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery west of Corydon.
