Jas. Hunter, an aged and highly respected gentleman after a long and painful illness, and through all showing the patience and fortitude so characteristic of his whole life, passed quietly away on Saturday morning last at 1 o'clock, surrounded by his entire family. Mr. Hunter was a very energetic man who was always prominent in business circles and up to his last moments displayed his far sightedness for which during his busy upright life he had ever been noted. He leaves considerable property which had all to the most minute detail been fairly distributed among his heirs before his death, showing a desire that his death, like his life, should leave naught but peace and contentment in its track. His interment took place Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian churcg, Rev. C. B. Fisher officiating. His remains were followed by a large number of relatives and friends to his final resting place, over thirty sleighs being in the cortage.
