Had been in poor health some time
George Hunter, a well known resident of the Rossie Road, passed away Friday evening at nine o'clock, following an illness of six months. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Hunter was born in the town of Rossie, the son of James and Eliza Hunter. His entire life was spent in Rossie, where he followed the occupation of farming.
He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Mary St. Peters. She died in 1872 and two years later he married Miss Rachael Westerdick, who died a year ago.
He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Dan Leary, Rossie; Mrs. Levi Burnham, Spragueville; Mrs. Warren Stevenson, Morristown; Mrs. Charles Bressett, Rossie; Mrs. Carrie Ames, Gouverneur; and seven sons, Robert, Theresa; George Willard, Hammond; Hermon, Rossie; Harvey, Syracuse; Alden, Hammond; Earl and Raymond, Rossie. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Julia Rexford of Redwood; Mrs. Minnie Simons of Hammond and Mrs. Felix Brasaw of Ogdensburg, and one brother, Warren Hunter of Rossie.
Funeral Services were held at the home Monday afternoon at one o'clock, Rev. W. H. Campbell officiating. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery, Rossie.
