Last rites for Sylvester J. Washburn were held Saturday, December 30, 1939, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dan Mullin Thrusday morning, December 28. Rev. Earl Luscombe, pastor of Pierce's Corner Methodist Church, officitated at the funeral held at Mrs. Mullin's home at 1 p.m., followed by another service at the curch at 2 p.m.
Mr. Washburn was born Sept. 11, 1859, son of Sylvester and Jane Hurst Washburn. He lived in Macomb township all his life and was a lifelong member of the Pierce's Corner Methodist church. Mrs. Washburn died in March 1938.
Six children survive. They are James Washburn of San Diego California, Rev. Judson Washburn of Cleveland Ohio, Clark Washburn of Black RIver, Alton Washburn of Cazenovia, Mrs. Alvin Young of Macomb, and Mrs. Dan Mullin of Rossie. One brother Alvin Washburn of Syracuse, and one sister, Mrs. Cynthia Downing of Macomb also survive. There are 24 grandchildren.
