Judson S. Washburn was born June 1, 1890 in Macomb, New York and died June 5, 1965. He was a graduate of Syracuse University.

Judson was a missionary and clergyman. Around 1911 he was living with the Shinnecock Indians on Long Island where he taught the children. He had a camera and took many pictures during his stay there and many of them were processed as postcards were sent back to his father in Macomb.

In 1921 Judson went to India as a missionary. It was there that he married his wife Edith Kennard. Edith was born September 28, 1887 in Joy Ohio. She worked during WWI as a Red Cross nurse, serving for a time as one of the head nurses at Camp Sherman. After the war she served as a missionary nurse in Mexico before traveling to India in 1921. Judson and Edith resided at the mission in the Nizam's Dominion at Virakabad for over three years. Again, Judson had his camera with him and took many pictures of his voyage over the sea as well of sites in India.

They returned to the US and lived in Danbury, Iowa for two years before moving to Ohio where they lived in: Cleveland, Breman, Brewster, Bellaire, and Barnesville. It was in Barnesville that Edith died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 47.

In 1930, Judson and Edith were living in Brewster Village, Stark County, Ohio. Judson and Edith had no children, but shortly after 1930 they adopted twin infants: Charles and Ann. Shortly after they started raising the babies, the mother of the children returned and Judson and Edith had to give them back. It has been said that Edith never recovered from the loss and died shortly thereafter of a broken heart.

Judson later married his second wife, Gladys, and resided in the Cleveland area until the time of his death in 1965. He was buried in Lake View Cemetery.
