Ellen M. Blanchard
Ellen Matilda Blanchard of Nehalem died July 12 at Rinehart Hospital in Wheeler. She was 87.
Mrs. Blanchard was born Dec. 10, 1894, to Scott and Melinda Porter Goodwin. She received her education in Minnesota and came to Portland in 1948. She lived in Portland before moving to Nehalem seven years ago. She had been a housewife.
Survivors include a son Jack; Quincy, Calif.; daughters Dorothy Roberts and Eunice Brokow, Nehalem and Mary Caley, Portland; sisters Fanny Nason, International Falls, Minn. and Dorothy Olson Minneapolis, Minn., 24 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and six great-great- grandchildren. Mrs. Blanchard was preceded in death by her husband, William John in 1962, as well as a son Robert, (1977) and daughter Margaret Covel, (1972)
Funeral services were held July 15 at Hartman's Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Fletcher of the United Methodist Church officiated. Merrill Womack served as organist. Burial took place at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Hymns included "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Amazing Grace."
