FRANKLIN PIERCE ARNOLD

Franklin Pierce Arnold, 79 years old, died at this home in Mountain Lake Park on Saturday, October 15, 1932. Funeral services were held from his late residence with Rev. I. S. Middaugh, pastor of the Park M. E. church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gregory Bleakly. Interment was made in the Oakland cemetery.

Mr. Arnold had been in failing health for some time and his illness was considered serios by his immediate family and close friends, yet the announcement of his death came as a distinct shock to the people of the community. For 65 years, even before its formation, Mr. Arnold was a resident of Garrett county, coming here with his parents while yet a youth. For nearly fifty years he was a resident of Mountain Lake Park. He was born at Frederick, Md., on March 22, 1853, and was the son of James Arnold, whose death occurred here a great many years ago.

During his long residence in the county Mr. Arnold became widely known and highly respected. He was tax collector for the Community of Mountain Lake Park for many years. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Odd Fellows lodge. By trade he was a plasterer. His passing marks the second of the older residents of the Park to be taken in a few weeks' time.

The deceased is survived by his widow, one son Harrison M. Arnold, and a granddaughter, of Sewickley, Pa., and by one stepdaughter, Mrs. James G. Jarboe, of Jacksonville, Florida. (Transcribed by Ronn E. Friend, 2nd great nephew).
