Orda Sylvester Barnard
ELON COLLEGE - Orda Sylvester Barnard, 89, of 302 W. Haggard Ave. died at 10 a.m. Saturday at his residence after several years of declining health.
A native of Wayne County, Ill, he was the husband of Mrs. Ila Graham Barnard and the son of the late Lloyd Sylvester and Catherine Spicer Barnard. He was a retired High School Superintendent in Wayne City, Ill schools. He was a former Mason, a member of the National Education Association and was a US Army Veteran of World War I. He was also a member of the Union Ridge United Church of Christ.
Survivors other than the wife of the home include one daughter . . . and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Union Ridge United Church of Christ by the Rev. John Settlemyre, pastor. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Lowe Funeral Home from 7 until 9 p.m. tonight and at other times at the residence of the daughter . . . . The body will remain at the funeral home until 30 minutes before the service.
Memorials may be made to the Union Ridge United Church of Christ.
