Weir City Journal, May 8, 1903:
At his home in Kingman, Kansas, Saturday, May 2, 1903, Alex Benson, aged 56 years died. The remains were brought to this city, his former home, for burial, and the funeral services were held in the M.E. Church Tuesday afternoon, May 5 at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. M.D. Stout, and the remains were buried in the Weir City cemetery under the auspices of the W.O.W., of which order he was a member.

We desire to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted during the sickness and after the death of our father and brother, and for the floral offering which was presented - Mae, Maud, Will, Ray and Roy Benson, Mr. and Mrs. Stanton, Mr. and Mrs. U.S. Benson, Mr. and Mrs. H. Benson, York, Neb; Mr. and Mrs. C. Monroe, Chase, Kans.
