J. Edwin Lyle, 88, of Hickory, died Sunday, October 23, 1960 in Mary's Nursing Home, Washington. He had been in failing health for the last year. He was born September 23, 1872 in Mt. Pleasant township, a son of James Reed and Sarah Hartford Lyle, and was a lifelong resident of the township. Mr. Lyle was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Prospect Presbyterian Church at Hickory. His wife, Mary Neil Lyle , died in 1948. Surviving are two sons, Robert R., of College Station, Texas and Donald N. of Hickory; one daughter, Anna, wife of T. Burns Lee,of Hickory and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Thompson of Washington. One son, Clifford is deceased. Services will be held Tuesday, October 25 at the Speakman Funeral Home, Houston with the Rev. C. S. Thomas in charge. Burial in mt. Prospect Cemetery. - Washington Reporter, October 24, 1960.
