Edward J. "J.B." Abell, 72, died Wednesday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He was a native of Lebanon, owner of the A&B Auto Sales and Abell Food Mart, a retired Marine Corps master gunnery sergeant who served in the Korean and Vietnam wars and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Fleet Reserve Association and Ascension Catholic Church. Survivors: his wife, the former Catherine Higdon; sons, Jerry E., Chris A. and Kenny J. Abell; daughters, Gail Hendrick, Sandy Mosser and Kathy Hall; a brother, Leo Abell; sisters, Theresa Mattingly, Thelma Haggard, Clara Hutchins and Helen Osborne; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, his church, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive. Burial: Lebanon National Cemetery, Marion County.
