She was born on Sept. 6, 1929 in Marion County. She was a teacher's aide in the Marion County School System for 27 years, was a homemaker, a former member of St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Mary, and a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Joseph Edward and Mary Celeste Mattingly Abell; four brothers, Alvin, Bert, J.B., and Leo Abell; two sisters, Louise Blandford Thomas and Clara Hutchins; a son, Joseph Edward Mattingly; and a son-in-law, Eddie Carrico.
Survivors include: her husband of 65 years, Ed Mattingly; five sons, Mike (Cheryl) Mattingly, Terry Mattingly, Kevin (Amanda) Mattingly and Todd (Cindy) Mattingly, all of Springfield, and Greg (Angie) Mattingly of Lebanon; three daughters, Pam (Danny) Marks of Lebanon, Debbie (Mark) Collard of Lexington, and Lisa Carrico of Sprinfield; two sisters, Thelma Haggard of Liberty and Helen (Johnnie) Osborne of Springfield; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, at St. Rose Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. will officiate.
Pallbearers sre grandsons, Bart, Devin, Stuart and Tyler Mattingly, Eric Marks, Scott Collard, and Travis Carrico.
