Funeral of Rev. Wilmer Hartman was Held in Arendtsville on Wednesday.

Rev. Wilmer A. Hartman, a successful Lutheran clergyman and a graduate of both seminary and college, died early Saturday morning at his home in Middletown, Md. He had been ill for a number of weeks, during which time he had undergone treatment in several hospitals. His illness was finally diagnosed as ulcers of the heart. He was aged 48 years.

Rev. Mr. Hartman was graduated from Gettysburg College in 1895 and from the seminary in 1898. For about ten years he was pastor of a church at Wheeling, West Virginia, starting it as a mission and building up the congregation until it became large and flourishing. From there he went to the Troy Hill Lutheran church, Pittsburgh, where he remained for some years and then accepted a call in the Middletown pastorate.

He leaves his wife who, before marriage, was Miss Lula Snyder, of Arendtsville, and two daughters. He also leaves these sisters and brothers: Mrs. L. H. Rice and Mrs. Hiram lady, of Arendtsville; Edgar Hartman, of Bendersville; George Hartman, of Biglerville; Harvey Hartman, of Salem, Virginia.

Funeral services were held in the church at Middletown at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. The body was brought to Arendtsville on Wednesday, arriving at Gettysburg at 8:50 in the morning. Brief services were held in the Lutheran church at Arendtsville at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment in the Arendtsville cemetery.
