Lorena McKinney, of Irving, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008, at the grand age of 93. Devoted wife, mother, and Christian, she was always willing to help. She was also known for her Italian Cream Cakes and was always asked to make one for any and all occasions. Born in Whitewright, Texas on February 11, 1915, she married Joseph McKinney on February 25, 1942. With a grand total of 66 years of marriage, and with 63 years on earth, she and her husband, Joseph, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary together in heaven. Their loving relationship with friendship, courtship, and marriage totaled approximately 83 years shared together.

Lorena moved to Irving in October of 1956 where she became a member of Plymouth Park Baptist Church and cared for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. McKinney; her sisters Paige Flanery and Dell Skipworth; her brother Argus Ashinhurst; sister-in-laws Gladys Ashinhurst, Mary Jo Ashinhurst, Billie Jean Stallings, Geneva Ashinhurst; brothers-in-laws Sonny Flanery and Jack Skipworth. She is survived by her daughter Betty Hammonds and son-in-law David Hammonds; step-grandsons David Lee Hammonds and Randy Hammonds; brothers Vernon Ashinhurst, J.M. Ashinhurst and Lindy Ashinhurst sister Zeru Siegenthaler; brother-in-laws Stanley Siegenthaler and Bill Stallings; sister-in-law Doris Ashinhurst; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Brown's Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jerry Perrill officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the funeral service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. If you have known me and lost me, you have lost nothing. But if you have known the Lord and lost Him, you have lost everything.
