He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Chosan Reservoir in Korea. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
Going was married to Loretta Jim in Oklahoma City on February 26, 1955 and they had lived in Shawnee for 17 years. He worked as a body and fender repairman and was retired from Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and of First Indian Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one son, John A. Going Jr. and one daughter, Lucy McCulley.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Going, of the home, two sons, Jimmy Ray Going of Norman and Ronald Going, of the home, two grandsons, Frank McCulley of Shawnee and Jonathan Going, of the home, brothers, Josiah Going of Lane and Rayson G. Going Jr. of Broken Bow, sisters and brothers-in-law, Samantha and Dess Neal of Talihina, Frances Jean and Clyde Neil of Tom, Ruby Stotts, Mabel McGuire, both of Oklahoma City and Virginia Williams of Guthrie and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. today at First Indian Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Cornell Cemetery of Holdenville under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
