Mrs. Jarnagin passed away Monday, February 6th at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Atlanta, Louisiana October 24, 1933 and was a graduate of Atlanta High School. She was the Secretary for several years at Winnfield Jr. High School and was described in the school annual as the "Right hand lady" of then Principal, Eugene Love. Later she served as Secretary Treasurer of the Winn Parish Police Jury from 1974 to 1984 after which she worked for the City of Winnfield as manager of the Light and Water Office. She returned to her role as Secretary Treasurer of the Winn Parish Police Jury in 1992 and retired from the Police Jury in 1998. She was a long time and faithful member of South Winnfield Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and her Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Jarnagin, was an encourager and supporter, whether it was at the school house, the courthouse, the church house or her own house. She encouraged students, she supported her parish and city and she loved her family! To her grandchildren she was affectionately known as "Granny". She was a tremendous cook and took great pleasure making others feel welcome. She, along with her husband, spent many treasured days at their camp on Clear Lake in Natchitoches Parish, where she enjoyed camping, fishing and visiting with family and friends.

In her final weeks and months, Mrs. Jarnagin experienced much pain as her health declined. She believed however, like the Apostle Paul, that "our present sufferings are not comparable to the glory that will be revealed in us"
Mrs. Jarnagin was the daughter of the late Sherman Edward Vail and the late Myrtie Simmons Vail. She was also preceded in death by her husband Oscar Ferrell Jarnagin, brothers and sisters Edward A. Vail, Edna Mae Vail Bryant, Sherman Ordner Vail, Rita Vail Guilliams , Houston Vail, and Lorna Jean Vail Bright as well as her "baby" and canine companion, Dryfuss.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Patricia Jarnagin Harrison of Tenaha, Texas and Monte Ferrell "Buck" Jarnagin (Becky) of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren Bryan Price, Michael Price, Leigh Anne Price Webster (Adam), Rachel Jarnagin, Christina Jarnagin Desadier (Rickey), Adam Jarnagin (Ashley), and Jace Carreras; great-grandchildren Lily Webster, August Webster, and Kate Webster, Weston Sullivan, Madison Nealy (Hogan), Quentonn Jarnagin (Karrie), Coltonn "Bubba" Jarnagin, Martina "Sissy" Jarnagin, Makayla Cook, Kadon Cook, Macey Jarnagin and Hailey Jarnagin. Mrs. Jarnagin is also survived by two great great-grandchildren Laine Sullivan and Zaine Jarnagin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Honoring Mrs. Jarnagin as pallbearers will be Kevin Whisonant, Todd Martin, Michael Jarnagin, Steve Vines, Rodney Guilliams, and Brett Vines.
