Lucille was born on April 9, 1927 to Herbert and Malanie (Schult) Kraft on the family farm in rural Scott County, Iowa. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Harlen Kardel on January 25, 1947 in Davenport, IA. Together they farmed and raised their two sons on the Kardel family farm south of Maysville, IA. After they moved off the farm, Lucille actively pursued her passion of needlepoint and hardanger. Lucille considered her greatest accomplishment getting "Best of Show" at the Iowa State Fair. She was a member of the Embroiders Guild in both the Quad Cities and Green Valley, AZ where they wintered for many years. She was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Davenport and ASSHS.
Lucille is survived by her sons: Stephen Kardel and wife, Cindy of Winnetka, IL and Ron Kardel and wife, Susie of Walcott, IA; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlen in 2018, her parents, a sister, Arrabelle Meyer and brothers, Henry and Richard Kraft.
