QUERRY, Mary Ann (Florey)
Mary A. Queery, widow of John Queery(sic), died at 1:15 Saturday morning (5 Aug 1905) at her home, 550 West King street. Mrs. Queery had been in reasonably good health for one 95 years of age until four months ago when a cancer developed on her tongue and this caused her death. She suffered a great deal, but at the last slept away peacefully.

Mrs. Queery was born in Virginia Jan 4, 1810 in Wythe Co, Va. In 1829 she came to Illinois with her parents, who settled near Long Creek, and where she was united in marriage with John Queery (George W.). To this union twelve children were born, four of whom are surviving. They are: W.B. Queery, Arthur; Rose A. Terry, Nebraska; J.A. Queery and Virginia Booker of Decatur; two of the children died in infancy and the remaining six lived to be grown. There are fifty grandchildren, sixty-nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, most of them residents of Macon county.

The funeral will be held at Long Creek church Sunday afternoon at 3:30. Interment will be in Long Creek cemetery

Mary A. Queery funeral was held at Long Creek Sunday afternoon, Rev. Bankson of Blue Mound officiating. The service was held in the Methodist Episcopal Church which was almost filled with relatives. She had 50 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, 3 gr-gr-grandchildren, and all of them were present at the service. The funeral was the largest that was ever held in Long Creek and the cortege was nearly a mile long. Mrs. Query was buried in the cemetery which was laid out by her father many years ago.*There had been no one buried in the cemetery for the past 30 years until yesterday. The choir composed of Mrs. Georgia Davis, Mrs. Nina Green, Harry Lichtenberger and Ross Davis sang. The casket was covered with flowers. The pallbearers were Calvin Floyd, Frank Bond, T.W.Gustin, John Green, J.W. Myers and H.P. Clark. *Her sister Virginia Greenfield was buried there in 1904

The children of Mary Ann and George were Lucretia J., wife of John Shaffer, of Blue Mound township; Louisa Ann, Armena Maranda and John Wesley, who died in infancy, James; Angelina, deceased, wife of George Martin; Emeline, deceased; Virginia, wife of Jack Booker, of Blue Mound and Joseph, who married Clara Frey and operates the home farm for his mother.
