Mary Ott Flora was the mother of 17 children

John Flora's wife lived long enough to see the boy ABRAHAM LINCOLN, who had come to Macon County after their own arrival, and who traveled the judicial circuit past their door, and who gradually had won his way to fame, to be chosen by the people of the United States to guide them through the black clouds which were gathering over the land. But she died before he was inaugurated. On Jan 26, 1861, she was laid to rest beside her soldier husband in the little cemetery on the hill.Burial: Florey Family Cemetery- Macon Co, Ill

Some of John and Mary's children died while yet young. It is not known exactly when or where they died. Some may have died in the early days in Macon Co. There was a cholera epidemic in Illinois around 1832 according to The History of Macon Co., Illinois

Mary was only about 15 when she married John, who was about 36 years old. Mary's oldest step-son was only 5 years younger than she was. Mary was 15 and now the mother of four children ages 4, 5, 8 & 10 years old. John had a total of 21 children, his last child was born when he was 64 years old.
After John's death Mary Ott Florey lived with her youngest daughter, Virginia Greenfield, until her death on January 26, 1861. Both John and Mary are buried in Florey Cemetery in Long Creek Township, Macon Co. which is a short distance east of the village of Long Creek, a tiny cemetery which may be seen on the north side of the road.

Census 1860 states Mary Florey was blindMary and John Florey had 17 children; Sarah, Henry, Catharine, Cynthia, Eleanor, David, Mary Polly, Matilda, Emily Amy, Jonathan, Mary Ann, Israel, Rhoda, Andrew, Syrena, Isaac and Virginia.
