John was noted for making remedies that helped with upset stomachs , nervousness , ecsema , rheumatism , sinus trouble , constipation , diarrhea & other numerous ailments. He was the inventor of the famous ( Scalf Indian River Tonic ) in which he had developed for his brother , Dawrity Scalf. He had also helped his brother market the product. Though the increased usage of vitamin pills sounded the demise of his tonic by the 1970's , he was truly the forerunner and without him we would not have half the medical cures and remedies we have to this day.
