Ruth W. Dearborn, 89 BIDDEFORD - Ruth W. Dearborn, of Biddeford, died surrounded by loved ones on June 6, 2009 at Southern Maine Medical Center. She was one of eleven children born to Alfred H. and Grace Seavey Milliken on May 19, 1920. She graduated from Deering High School, Gorham Normal School and the University of Maine. Ruth married Donald W. Dearborn in 1940. She was a member of the Congregational Church. Her long career in education began in the one room schoolhouse on the River Road in Biddeford. She taught in the Biddeford School system for many years and served as principal at Dayton Consolidated School. After retirement, she continued to teach in the Biddeford Adult Education program and received a Distinguished Service Award from the State of Maine for her dedication to Adult Education. Mrs. Dearborn enjoyed her years as a hostess for the Elder Hostel program at the University of New England. She had been involved in the Mayflower Society and Eastern Star. Ruth was an avid supporter of several equestrian organizations. She enjoyed singing and traveling with her many friends and family, including traveling to China while in her 80's. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Donald in 1981, and by four of her brothers, Rev. Gerald C. Milliken, Ph.D., Sewell O. Milliken, Ph.D., Wendell Milliken, and Rolland Milliken. Surviving her are her children: Joan Susi of Saco, daughters and son. Also surviving are her two brothers and four sisters. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren and with many great; and great-great grandchildren. Visiting hours will be on June 8, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Dennett, Craig and Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., Saco. The interment will be held privately at a family plot.
