Lars John Johnson died at Hot Springs, Ark., at 3:55 p.m. yesterday, of paralysis. His sons, Charles O. and Henry A. Johnson, and daughter, Miss Clara Johnson, were in attendance. Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 8, 1825, in Rappensgord, Shapland county, Sweden. He came to America in 1851, remaining a few months in the state of New York. Coming west soon after, he settled in the city of St. Louis, engaging in business there until 1861, when he removed to Springfield. He associated with him Mr. C. J. Peterson, under the firm name of Johnson & Co., soon after changing it to Johnson & Peterson, under which name they did business for the last thiry-one years. Mr. Johnson had not been in active business since the year 1886, when he was afflicted with the disease which casued his death. He had suffered ever since, and last fall took a trip to Hot Springs, thinking to obtain relief. He returned home and during the winter suffered very much and went again to Hot Springs April 26, where he was stricken with paralysis, from which he died. On last February he dissolved partnership with Mr. C. J. Peterson.
He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Annie C. Johnson, five sons and four daughters - William B., Charles O., Henry A., Edward W., and Elmer L. Johnson; Mrs. Annie Hollem and Clara M., Lillie P. and Rosa J. Johnson. The remains will arrive on the C & A tomorrow noon, and the time of the funeral will be announced.
