HEBER CITY, UTAH - Lorin Ernest Allred, age 74, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called home after a long illness on Easter morning, April 23, 2000 surrounded by his loving family. Born March 4, 1926 in Bennett, Utah to Ernest William and Irene Birch Allred. He married his sweet-heart Joy Defa on July 3, 1953. Mar-riage later solem-nized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Served faithfully in the LDS Church in many call-ings including, bishopric, high council, and stake presidency. He is a World War II veteran having served his country in the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and National Guard Band. He graduated from the University of Utah and did post graduate studies at BYU and Utah State University. An Educator for many years he influenced countless lives and instilled in his family the love of music. He also founded and operated a successful family roofing business. He served his community in civic organizations, and also as a county commissioner and as a state legislator. His passions included gardening, hunting, fishing, golf and playing in dance bands. His 47 year marriage to his sweet companion and friend was his greatest source of strength. His life centered around his family. His 18 grandchildren were the light of his life. His positive good nature, sense of humor and work ethic were his trademarks. He showed great strength in facing the health problems of the past many years and left a lasting example that will be remembered and appreciated by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy; children, Jerry (Marianne) Allred, Luana (Wayne) Watson, Verlene (Scott) Jensen, Jim Allred, Vince (Jackie) Allred; and sisters, Crystal Hackett, Lavar Pace, Velma Aplanalp. Preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dale Allred, Services will be 11 a.m. Wed. April 26, 2000 in the Heber 6th Ward, 365 E. 500 No. Friends may visit Tues. 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, and at the church Wednesday 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial, Heber City Cemetery with full military honors.
