CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Gloria Laub, 78, of Chaffee died Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 12, 1931, in Chaffee, to the late Sylvester and Elizabeth Owens Matthews. She and Donald L. Laub were married Nov. 4, 1950. He preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1978.

Gloria was a member of First Christian Church in Chaffee. She started as a probate clerk for Scott County in Benton, Mo., then was a legal secretary/paralegal for attorney Weber D. Gilmore in Sikeston, Mo. She retired while working for attorney Brainerd W. LaTourette Jr. in St. Louis.

Survivors include three sisters, Christine Unnerstall of Chubbuck, Idaho, Virginia Phillips of Morley, Mo., Edith Lansmon of Cape Girardeau; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and six sisters.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Vyron Yount officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
