Sylvia was born September 20, 1918, in Chaffee, Missouri, daughter of Sylvester and Anna Elizabeth Owens Matthews. She and Albert F. Unnerstall were married December 18, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois.
Sylvia retired from Johnson & Johnson in Chicago in 1981. She and Albert then moved to Arkansas where they resided for 25 years and were members of All Saints Catholic Church in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. After the passing of her beloved husband, Sylvia moved to Cotton Wood Cove in Chubbuck, Idaho to be near her oldest daughter and family. During her nearly 10 years at the Cove she was involved in numerous activities and made many friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Cyd A. Crue of Fort Hall, ID, and Teena Beth Chesters (Stephen) of Allen, TX; one sister, Edith Lansmon of Cape Girardeau, MO; three grandchildren, one great grandchild, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, eight sisters, and one son-in-law.
A celebration of life will be held in the near future. Her arrangements are under the care and direction of Wilks Funeral Home, 211 W. Chubbuck Road. Memories and condolences may be left in the "Share a Memory" tab.
