She was born in Scott County on April 18, 1906, and was the daughter of the late Ivory Webster Griffith and the late Cora Lee Boyer Griffith. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oneida and a longtime secretary in the Oneida School System.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Warren Smith, in 1980; and infant son, Robert H. Smith; and brothers Benny and Kenneth Griffith.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Smith Wright and husband, Robert E.; one son, Richard B. Smith and wife, Vivian; three sisters: Agnes West, Lela Bilbrey and Elizabeth Lewallen; one granddaughter, Amy J. Wright; two grandsons, Robert W. Wright and wife, Carla, and Richard J. Smith; two great-grandchildren, Amber and Jacob Wright, all of Oneida; and special nieces and nephews. She also leaves many other relatives.
Funeral services were conducted Monday in the Chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Special music was provided by Marcy Lay, Jane Phillips and Jacklyn Chitwood. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were David Bilbrey, Anthony Chitwood, Brian Sexton, Heath Phillips, Brent Sexton and Dale Daugherty. Jones & Son Funeral Home of Oneida had charge of arrangements.
