Lela Bilbrey, 89, of Oneida, passed away August 20, 2005, at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville. Born in Winfield, January 2, 1916, she was preceded in death by her parents, L. W. and Cora Boyner Griffith; her husband, Edson Bilbrey; six brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law, Steve Phillips. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Oneida. She is survived by one son, David Bilbrey and wife, Madeline, of Knoxville; two daughters: Carolyn Sexton and husband, Dennis, and Jane Phillips, all of Oneida; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Agnes West of Covington, Ky., and Elizabeth Lewallen of Oneida; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted August 22, in the chapel of Jones & Son Funeral Home with Dr. Doug White and Rev. Dale Smith officiating. Music was provided by Brian Elliot and Alan Matthews. Graveside service was conducted August 23, in Hazel Valley Cemetery. Jones & Son Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
